I don't really think DNN can be categorized as a CMS. It is more a web portal framework in my openion with no leading support for CMS features such as content versioning, organization, styling etc.
Agree with Hasith. At the same time DNN is trying hard to make it self noticed in CMS space as well. For example the Professional Edition of DNN has content approval workflows. On the other hand there are 3rd party modules which support features like content versioning.
